Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the price after a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the savings, then subtract that from the original price. Rs 10,000 with 20% off is Rs 10,000 − Rs 2,000 = Rs 8,000.
Is VAT added before or after the discount?
VAT is charged on the price after the discount. In the example above, 13% VAT on Rs 8,000 is Rs 1,040, so the final amount is Rs 9,040.
What is the VAT rate in Nepal?
The standard VAT rate in Nepal is 13%. Some goods and services are exempt, and Budget 2083/84 added a few special reduced rates, so check your bill or the IRD for specific items.
