About the BS/AD Date Converter

Nepal's official calendar is Bikram Sambat (BS), which runs about 56 years and 8 months ahead of the Gregorian (AD) calendar. The BS new year, Baisakh 1, falls in mid-April, and BS months have between 29 and 32 days, so you cannot convert dates by simply adding a fixed number.

This converter uses the published day count of every BS month from 1975 BS to 2099 BS (1918 to 2043 AD) to convert Nepali dates into English dates and English dates into Nepali dates, including the day of the week.

How to use the BS/AD Date Converter

  1. Pick conversion direction: AD → BS or BS → AD.
  2. Enter the source date (picker for AD, or year/month/day selectors for BS).
  3. View the converted date, month name, day of month, and day of week in the result panel.

Tips

  • Covers 1975 BS to 2099 BS (1918 AD to 2043 AD) with exact days per month and weekday calculations.
  • Supports quick presets like Current Nepali Date, Today, and one-click copy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a Nepali date into an English date?

Choose BS → AD, then select the BS year, month and day. The converter shows the matching AD date and weekday instantly. For English to Nepali, choose AD → BS and pick the date.

Why can't I just subtract 57 years from a BS date?

The two calendars start their years at different times (Baisakh 1 is in mid-April) and BS month lengths change every year. The gap is 57 years from mid-April to 31 December and 56 years from 1 January to mid-April, and the exact day needs the month tables.

Which years does the converter support?

It covers 1975 BS to 2099 BS, which is 1918 AD to 2043 AD. That range includes all common needs such as citizenship, passport, school and office documents.

What are the Nepali months in order?

Baisakh, Jestha, Asar, Shrawan, Bhadra, Asoj, Kartik, Mangsir, Poush, Magh, Falgun and Chaitra. Nepal's fiscal year starts on Shrawan 1, in mid-July.
